I often rely on the instincts that come with a lifetime spent painting and drawing. Quirky details, the elements that add to the idiosyncratic beauty of the everyday, are essentials in my work. I enjoy painting contrasts: subtle and strong colors, brushy and fluid line, delicacy and volume. I am inspired by the spirit of my subjects rather than faithful reproduction. I earned a fine arts degree at Syracuse University, was an ad agency art director (Ogilvy & Mather) and a graphic designer (Woman's World Magazine). Besides painting (in oil and watercolor) I also carve stone and sculpt in clay.
