Catalina Sanchez

Catalina Sanchez grew up in Medellin, Colombia. She was exposed to different types of art and sceneries as her parents loved to travel. When she turned 12 she won a prize for one of her paintings which encouraged her to continue exploring her artistic abilities. After graduating from school, she studied Graphic Design at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana.

Catalina moved to the U.S. in 1999 and studied at Cape Cod Community College where she met amazing retired artists. She learned from landscapers, watercolor and mixed media artists. She then moved to New Jersey and obtained her Bachelor in Arts from Montclair University She has worked as a graphic designer and art teacher ever since.

Catalina has written and illustrated the children’s book, “Lucia and her mysteriously curly hair” (Available on and has collaborated as an illustrator for two other upcoming books. Her works of art tell the stories of her childhood and her exposure to other cultures.
